In collaboration with the Commissioner of Insurance, IAUA is providing training that fulfills the requirements for consideration to be eligible as an Umpire in Insurance Appraisals.
One of the lessons learned from hurricane Maria in 2017 is that the Insurance Industry needs specialized Appraisers and Certified Umpires to facilitate a timely valuation of incurred losses. In order to assure fair valuations and safeguard assets Puerto Rico’s Commissioner of Insurance procured the Umpire Certification be required by law in order to perform the umpire role in appraisal proceedings under insurance policies.
Light breakfast and lunch is provided and registration also includes a digital copy of The Law and Procedure of Insurance Appraisal, by Jonathan J. Wilkofsky, Esquire.
All class time and breaks will be in compliance with process, capacity and spacing requirements per PR orders and La Concha protocols. The educational setup will be in the large ballroom, with U-shaped tables spaced 6' apart and 1 chair per 6' table. Travel to PR from off the island has restrictions and requirements, plan accordingly.
